Baptismal Favors

Baptismal Favors

This will be my first official blog and I hope you will enjoy it and find it useful.

The uploaded images are favors I created for my next door neighbor for her daughter's Baptism.  I made them and gave them to her as a small gift.  As you can see from the images below I made several different types of unique favors.  Every party you create should be personalized.  Put the porcelain favors away and create something that has a unique personal meaning.

I created the scalloped circle coasters as an extra favor just in case their were not enough boxes.  For these coasters, I used the spellbinders scalloped die and my Cuttlebug.  I actually used Microsoft Word and typed in what I wanted to say and spaced everything out so that I can just place the die over the words and cut them out.  I did not do anything other than please the Spellbinder over the words, cut the specified area out using the Cuttlebug embossed the die using the same spellbinders die to create the finished product.

I created the bookmarks for guests using the decorative edged bookmarks sold in a packet of 50 in Joann's using their 50% off coupons or just waiting for their 40% off sale.  I embossed the bookmarks using a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I simply cut a card stock to fit as an accent piece over the bookmark, embossed that too using a different embossing Cuttlebug folder and for the finishing touch I used a spellbinder fancy label die.  I also used Microsoft Word to type in what I wanted it to say (same as I did for the coasters) and cut out each piece using the Spellbinder fancy label die.

For the boxes I used the 2x2x2 box measurements on the Martha Stuart Scoring Board.  Believe it or not it the scoring board is pretty accurate and I used one of the Martha Stuart center punches.  I punched out the design before assembling the box after I have cut and scored it.  Only the top center of each box was done but you can do this all around the box.  I inserted a 2x2 white card stock cut out on the bottom back portion of the punched section.  I did this so that instead of looking into the box with no backing I wanted it to be a little more sturdy and decorative.  If you really want it to stand out  and do something different, instead of using the white backing, you can use acetate so that all your guests do not have to open the box to see what is inside.  I attached the Recollections small pearl embellishments on the bookmarks and boxes and used the Martha Stuart rhinestone flowers for the bookmark.

All of these products I purchased during Michael's or Joann's 40% off sale.

I hope you enjoyed my first blog and I hope that you have found it useful.  If you feel you need more direction or step by step instructions, please leave a comment and I will be more than happy to help you create a one of a kind favor.
